Agrisonic

Agrisonic logo

Agrisonic is a portable, cost-effective soil testing and crop recommendation device designed to help farmers improve their crop yields by providing real-time data on key soil parameters.

Problem

Ugandan farmers face challenges in maintaining consistent crop quality due to poor soil management practices. Soil testing labs are expensive and difficult to access for rural farmers, and many farmers lack the knowledge to interpret soil test results.

Solution

Agrisonic offers a user-friendly, affordable soil testing device that measures soil pH, moisture, temperature, and nutrient levels (NPK). It provides real-time data and tailored crop recommendations via a smartphone app, helping farmers make informed decisions to improve soil health and crop quality.

Market Opportunity

With over 7.7 million agricultural households in Uganda and increasing smartphone penetration, Agrisonic has a large potential market. It addresses the gap in affordable soil management solutions for smallholder and commercial farmers, providing a comprehensive tool for precision agriculture.

Business Model

Agrisonic operates on a direct sales model, offering devices through local agricultural supply stores and online platforms. Additionally, a subscription model for advanced features and services, such as continuous crop health monitoring, will be introduced.

Funding Request

Seeking funding to expand production capabilities, enhance product features, and support marketing efforts to reach smallholder farmers across Uganda and neighboring countries.

Future Prospects

Future plans include scaling to other regions in Uganda and East Africa, adding features such as weather prediction and water management, and exploring partnerships with government programs and agricultural cooperatives to improve product accessibility.

Team

Led by Jonathan Ssemakula, with a multidisciplinary team of agronomists, engineers, and software developers focused on developing and scaling the Agrisonic solution.
